We all really enjoyed a spring walk this afternoon to look at the changes that are happening around us. The children spotted the buds on the trees and felt the warm sun on their cheeks. We looked at some weeds and we wanted to know what makes a plant a weed.Over the next few weeks the children will be learning all about trees and plants. We will also be doing a spot of gardening and seeing whether we have green fingers or not !
We had great fun celebrating World Book Day although we were all pretty worried when we saw Mr and Mrs Twit arrive! The children looked fantastic and there were so many different book characters. We enjoyed the day by writing our own stories using all the skills that we have learnt. At the end of the day we finished off our class book The Twits, which made us a little sad as we have really loved reading it. Don’t worry Class Spain we have another Roald Dahl book to start next week.
We have had a great day to end the half term. We all enjoyed performing our musical number at Share and we hope the grown ups enjoyed reading our stories. We then just had to go outside to get a taste of the snow on our tongues, it was only a flurry but we were all so excited. Then we had a tricky science investigation to find the best substance to use to fill a crater on the moon. We thought about what would suit the job as it had to be able to bend, twist, stretch and squash in order to fit the different areas. We all loved the gloop and just couldn’t believe how it was hard and runny at the same time.
Its’s lucky that we all still had enough energy for our PE lesson as Mrs Wilkinson let us use the new equipment. We really had to think about how we could move on the boards and which muscles we need to use.
I hope that you all have a fabulous half term holiday. I have set some maths challenges on mathletics for you to have a go at. We were o busy we didn’t get time for a spelling test today.
This week in class Spain we have been writing our own story versions of the Lewis Carroll poem The Jabberwocky. The children have planned and written the different sections of their story and they are now editing it ready to create their own book. We are then going to take our lovely new books into reception to read to the children there. Look at some samples of their writing.
If you would like to watch the video clip that the children watched in class you can find it if you type this into your search engine http://lovedbykids.com/schools/samples
Last week there was multiplication madness in class Spain. The children were using the counting patterns that they have learnt to solve problems. We are focusing on 2’s,5’s and 10’s. In the afternoons we learnt about the difference between city and village living. The children worked in groups and put forward their ideas. We then had a lively debate where the children verbalized their ideas.
We finished off the week with a super PE lesson where we used the benches to practise balancing.
